The Village of Bourbonnais is partnering with the Kankakee County Combined Communication Center (KanComm) to host a free Safety Town Spooktacular event. The event will take place on Wednesday, October 22, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Children’s Safety Center at 777 Stratford Drive East in Bourbonnais.

The event aims to provide families with a safe environment for Halloween activities. Children can trick-or-treat through miniature buildings in Safety Town while learning safety tips from local first responders and community organizations.

Organizations participating in the event include KanComm, Kankakee County Corrections, Kankakee County Animal Control, Bourbonnais Fire Protection District, Bourbonnais Police Department, Bourbonnais Public Works Department, and Kankakee County Health Department.

Mayor Jeff Keast stated, “This event combines the excitement of Halloween with the importance of safety education. It’s never too early to start teaching children how to stay safe in their community, and Safety Town provides the perfect setting for those lessons in a fun, memorable way. We appreciate KanComm’s support and dedication to keeping our community safe.”

The Safety Town Spooktacular is designed as an opportunity for families to connect with agencies that focus on public safety in Bourbonnais and Kankakee County. Costumes are encouraged and admission is free.
