Robert “Bob” Granger Remembered for Bowling Legacy and Generosity
Robert F. Granger | Clancy Gernon Funeral Homes - Bourbonnais

Robert “Bob” Granger, known for his impactful bowling legacy and remarkable generosity, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday, June 5, 2025, after battling dementia during his golden years. Born on February 8, 1947, to Robert L. and Alice Lambert Granger, Bob grew up in a close-knit family alongside his sister Carol and brother Edward, where laughter was a constant presence.

On October 12, 1968, Bob married Irene Clements, marking the start of a new chapter in his life. An avid bowler, many wedding plans were made at the bowling alley where Bob frequented at least three times a week, often bowling early and late shifts on the same night. His dedication to bowling was unwavering, leading him to serve as the Secretary of the Kankakee Bowling Association, where he was later inducted into the Bowlers Hall of Fame in 1997. Bob’s contributions to the sport included introducing and designing the KBA Ring and participating in the American Bowling Congress tournaments for 25 years, forming lifelong memories with friends. His involvement extended further to the Midwest Bowlers Association and the Senior PBA.

In addition to his passion for bowling, Bob owned and operated B.I.T.’s Tavern for 15 years, using the establishment to host numerous fundraisers to support those in need, creating a space for cherished memories and lasting friendships.

Bob also had a deep love for the Smokey Mountains and enjoyed spending time there with loved ones. Not only was he a devoted husband to Irene but also a loving foster father to many children, sharing his life and home generously.

Bob is survived by his wife Irene; children Robert, Nicole McLelland Sego (John), and Richard Austin; grandchildren Evelyn Jo Collazo, Emily Mary McLelland, John Logan Sego II, and Hope Faith Granger; sister Carol A. Gard; nephew John R. Gard; sisters-in-law Gloria J. Granger and Sister Mary Beth Clements SSCM; aunt Armeline McCawley; and numerous cousins, friends, and his special fur baby, Honey.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Edward, brother-in-law John Gard, and other family members.

Visitation is scheduled from 2-5:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 9, 2025, at St. John Paul II West Campus in Kankakee, with cremation to follow.
