Ascension has announced the appointment of Rob Rose as its new Senior Vice President of Nursing and Chief Nursing Officer. Rose, who holds a Doctorate in Nursing Practice, will be responsible for leading Ascension's national nursing strategy. His focus will include workforce well-being, talent development and retention, and advancing clinical innovation.

Rob Rose previously served as Market Chief Nurse Executive for Atrium Health, overseeing nursing practices across 700 care locations and 20 hospitals. "I am honored to join a health ministry so rooted in compassion, service and human dignity," said Rose. "As I take on this new role, I am committed to elevating the voices of our nurses, advancing technology that improves outcomes and fostering an environment where all nurses feel supported to grow and lead."

Rose began his healthcare career in a Catholic hospital and has spent much of his career in Catholic Healthcare. Before joining Atrium Health in 2018, he was Senior Vice President Patient Care Services and Chief Nurse Executive for Christus Trinity Mother Frances Hospitals and Clinics in Tyler, Texas.

His educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the State University of New York Utica-Rome, a Master of Science in Health Care Administration from the California College for Health Sciences, and a Nursing Doctorate from the University of Texas at Tyler School of Nursing. He is also board-certified in Nursing Administration.

Sally Deitch, Executive Vice President of Nursing and Operations Infrastructure at Ascension, expressed optimism about Rose's leadership: “We are fortunate to welcome Rob to Ascension and look forward to his leadership. His collaborative spirit and deep dedication to nurse empowerment will help strengthen our shared commitment to ‘Caring with Strength, Healing with Heart.’”

This transition comes as Maureen Chadwick prepares for her retirement on June 30, 2025. Chadwick reflected on her time with Ascension: “I am incredibly grateful for the journey I have had with Ascension and confident in Rob’s ability to carry this work forward. It has been a privilege to serve alongside such dedicated nurses.”
