Russell Lee "Hoss" Parmley, age 82, of Bourbonnais, passed away on Friday, May 30, 2025, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. Born on July 9, 1942, in Metropolis, IL, Russell was the son of Major and Evelyn (Hill) Parmley. On December 8, 1962, he married Jeanne Spivey at First Church of God in Kankakee.

Russell dedicated his career to serving as a supervisor for the State of Illinois. Known for his commitment to his faith, he also shared his knowledge by teaching Sunday School. Russell had a love for sports, particularly baseball, and was even scouted by the Chicago White Sox. He had a passion for cars, particularly Corvettes and Cadillacs, and was a true sports enthusiast.

Russell earned his bachelor's degree in Psychology from Olivet Nazarene University. A member of the First Church of God in Kankakee, he valued his faith immensely.

Surviving Russell is his beloved wife, Jeanne; their children: Rick Parmley of Orlando, FL, Scott (Nichole) Parmley of Limestone, Gina (Shawn) Bradbury of Bonfield, and Debbie (Bob) Barber of Limestone; brother Gary (Cindy) Parmley of Goreville, IL; sister-in-law Lori (Jim) Franklin of North Carolina; brothers-in-law Terry (Shelly) Spivey of Florida and Richard (Patty) Spivey of Manteno; thirteen grandchildren; two nephews; a niece; and a cousin, Sharon Legacy.

Russell is preceded in death by his parents, sister Sharon Kaye, and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Walter and Velma Spivey.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until Noon at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais. A private family burial will follow.

Russell Lee "Hoss" Parmley will be deeply missed and remembered for his dedication to his family, passion for sports, and love for automobiles.
