The Village of Bourbonnais has announced the reopening of its synthetic outdoor ice rink at The Grove at Goselin Park, located at 700 Main St. NW. The Rink is accessible during The Grove’s regular hours from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Skaters may bring their own skates and do not need to purchase a ticket for general use.
For those who require skate rentals, a $5 ticket can be purchased either online or in person. This fee covers one hour on the ice and includes skate rental. Skate rentals are available every Saturday and Sunday in November and December between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., depending on weather conditions.
This season marks the debut of the modified 30-foot by 50-foot rink under the Robert Goselin Pavilion at its new location within The Grove.
Bourbonnais Mayor Jeff Keast stated, “We look forward to the return of The Rink at The Grove this holiday season and welcome everyone to enjoy this outdoor amenity.”
He added, “Residents attending the village’s 6th annual ‘Rockin’ Around the Tree Lighting’ on Thursday, December 4, can enjoy The Rink by providing a donation to the annual Shop with a Cop program benefiting Kankakee County children in need.”
The village acquired The Rink using funds from a $50,000 Community Tourism Action Plan grant awarded by the Kankakee County Convention & Visitors Bureau (KCCVB) in April 2023. The initial season for The Rink began in winter 2023 prior to the official opening of The Grove in summer 2024.
Marketing & Community Engagement Director Lindy Casey commented, “The Rink provides residents and visitors with a winter attraction that isn’t weather-dependent. No matter the temperature, skating can still take place.”
