Sharon Lois Kingery Passes Away at 89, Remembered for Strong Work Ethic and Love for Family

Momence, Nov. 19, 2025 - Sharon Lois (Zasada) Kingery, 89, of Momence, previously of Kankakee, passed away. She had a strong work ethic and enjoyed hosting family holidays, especially during Christmas. Sharon, a graduate of Kankakee High School, worked at Gould National Battery for 32 years and was past president of St. Theresa’s Catholic Council of Women.

Survivors include her daughter, Dana Zasada-Byers, son Brian Sr., daughter-in-law Anna Zasada, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sister Linda Larson, sister-in-law Patricia Surprenant, and many nieces and nephews. Sharon is preceded in death by her husbands, parents, son Robert Lee Zasada Jr., stepdaughter Angela Hecke, and brothers Tyrell and Roger Surpenant.

Visitation will be at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home on Dec. 7 from 2-6 p.m. and Dec. 8 at St. Joseph Catholic Church from 10 a.m., with the funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Mound Grove Gardens in Kankakee. Memorial donations may be made to Uplifted Care or St. Joseph Catholic Church.
