Ascension has announced that Mitesh Patel, MD, MBA, its Chief Clinical Transformation Officer, has been named to Becker’s Healthcare’s 2025 list of “30 hospital and health system chief transformation officers to know.” According to Ascension, the recognition highlights leaders who are shaping the healthcare sector through digital innovation and operational changes.
Dr. Patel is known for his approach that combines behavioral science, digital health tools, and clinical design with the aim of improving patient outcomes and expanding access to care. He has led over 25 clinical trials focused on strategies to enhance decision-making and patient engagement.
“His leadership continues to strengthen Ascension’s focus on innovation, data-informed care and compassionate service — creating a more connected experience for patients, clinicians and communities nationwide. Under Dr. Patel’s expertise, nudge campaigns are making care more seamless, proactive, and personalized,” the organization stated.
In fiscal year 2025, Ascension reports that about 130,000 patients received digital reminders via text or email designed to close gaps in care. These messages led to over 30,000 annual wellness visits being scheduled as a result of these outreach efforts. More details are available in Ascension’s FY25 Ministry in Action Report.
Earlier this year, Dr. Patel was also recognized by Modern Healthcare with its 2025 Innovators Award for his contributions toward advancing innovative healthcare practices.
