Eduardo, President | Ascension Medical Health

Ascension has published its Graduate Medical Education (GME) Year-in-Review report, detailing the progress and achievements of its medical training programs for the past year.

The report highlights Ascension’s efforts to prepare future physicians with a focus on quality and holistic patient care. The organization operates more than 100 GME programs, training approximately 1,400 residents and fellows annually across a variety of specialties. These programs are based in hospitals and clinical sites that serve both urban and rural communities.

During the fiscal year 2025, Ascension reported advancements in accreditation readiness, curriculum development, and trainee wellness. According to the report, several programs achieved a 100% first-attempt board pass rate, while others surpassed a 95% pass rate. This performance is cited as evidence of the effectiveness of the curriculum and teaching staff.

The organization also noted that multiple programs completed Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) site visits successfully. In addition, Ascension received initial accreditation for four new residency training programs in Neurological Surgery, Anesthesia, and Internal Medicine. A new initiative was launched to support career planning and job placement for residents and fellows interested in continuing their careers with Ascension after completing their training. In total, 346 residents graduated from the programs this year.

Looking forward, Ascension plans to expand its program offerings, increase its focus on resident career development, and further integrate technology and Mission Formation into its medical education efforts.
