In April, bilingual teachers collaborated with the Bilingual Parent Advisory Committee (BPAC) to organize a visit to the Bourbonnais Fire Protection District. This event aimed to bring together students, families, and first responders for an afternoon focused on appreciation, learning, and community building.
The event attracted more than 45 attendees and provided families in the bilingual program an opportunity to engage with local firefighters. Participants expressed their gratitude with homemade treats and learned essential fire safety lessons. Students explored the fire station, asked questions, and examined fire equipment closely, enhancing their understanding of safety procedures in an interactive environment.
This initiative underscores the bilingual program's dedication not only to academic success but also to fostering strong community partnerships and cultural pride. Acknowledgments were given to the Bourbonnais Fire Protection District for hosting the families and everyone involved in making the day successful.
