Bourbonnais Police Department is gearing up for the 2025 Special Olympics Illinois fundraising with the Law Enforcement Torch Run Polar Plunge. The event is scheduled for Sunday, March 2, at The Grove, located at 700 Main St. NW, starting at noon.
Donations can be made in person at the Bourbonnais Police Station during business hours or online by visiting the 'Brrrbonnais' Police team page. The initiative supports over 21,000 Special Olympics Illinois athletes with intellectual disabilities and 9,000 Young Athletes statewide.
The 'Brrrbonnais Police' have set a fundraising target of $6,000 for this year's Polar Plunge. In 2024, they raised over $5,497 for the event and $18,690 across all Special Olympics Illinois events, earning them a gold-level status in fundraising.
“We’re excited for this special plunge and first one at The Grove,” said Patrol Commander Jason Sztuba. He added that the team is still working towards their goal and appreciates community support.
The department actively supports Special Olympics Illinois through various fundraising activities throughout the year such as Dunkin’ Cop on a Rooftop and Culver’s ButterBurgers and Badges.
