Bourbonnais to host annual holiday tree lighting with school performances

Village of Bourbonnais Board of Trustees | Village of Bourbonnais

The Village of Bourbonnais is set to commence the holiday season with its fourth annual "Rockin’ Around the Tree Lighting" event. The celebration will take place on Thursday, December 5, starting at 6 p.m. at The Grove in Goselin Park, located at 700 Main St. NW.

Mayor Paul Schore will light the village tree, joined by special honoree Alexis McCullough. The event will feature performances from local school choirs, including Alan Shepard Elementary School's third grade under Emily Heald, Bishop McNamara Bourbonnais' third and fourth grades led by Stacie Knefelkamp, Liberty Intermediate School's sixth grade choir directed by Carrie Chaparro, and St. Paul’s Lutheran School's K-8 grades under Diane Dyche.

Santa Claus will make a surprise appearance alongside the Bourbonnais Fire Protection District, Police, and Public Works for a truck-a-truck activity. Attendees can enjoy skating at The Rink, a mobile synthetic ice rink recently opened by the village. Skate rentals will be free during the event.

Visitors can warm up with hot chocolate around six firepits and purchase food from a Chick-fil-A food truck. Desserts include a sweet treat special from Dairy Queen and $1 small cones available at the Bourbonnais location from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The community is invited to attend this free event without any registration required.
