Bourbonnais Upper Grade Center student Brayden Domont has set a new Illinois state record for the two-mile cross country race.
According to reports, Brayden placed first in the 2-mile race at the Illinois Elementary School Association 4A Boys Cross Country Competition. He broke the state record with a time of 10:07.97.
Teammate Luca Nims secured second place with a time of 10:29.23.
The boys and their coaches, Jenny Molthan and Dan Chamernik, were recognized with a proclamation at the November 19 board meeting by Bourbonnais Mayor Paul Schore.
