BBCHS senior Savannah Zirbel wins 4 medals and breaks state record at IHSA swim meet

Bradley-Bourbonnais Community High School (BBCHS) senior Savannah Zirbel achieved significant success at the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) swim meet on November 17, earning four medals and breaking a state record.

Zirbel also set a new IHSA State Record in the Breaststroke Meet and broke all four of BBCHS's Adapted Swimming and Diving (AWD) school records in each event she participated in.

According to the results from the IHSA Sectional Competition held on November 15 and 16, 2024, Zirbel was not the only standout performer from the BBCHS Girls Swim and Dive Team. Madeline Folk broke a school record in the 100 Yard Fly, securing third place in that event as well as in the 100 Yard Breaststroke. Abby Bonilla earned a medal in the 200 Freestyle, finishing among the top six competitors. Additionally, BBCHS's Medley Relay and 200 Free Relay teams had top-six medal winners.

The Illinois High School Association is a private, non-profit organization based in Bloomington, Illinois. According to their website, their mission is to provide "leadership for the development, supervision and promotion of good sportsmanship in interscholastic competition and other activities" for its member schools, including BBCHS. The IHSA organizes 17 statewide championship series for girls' athletics and 15 for boys.
