The Bourbonnais Police Department announced on their Facebook page on November 17 that they are accepting donations for their annual Shop with a Cop program. This initiative aims to benefit children in Kankakee County.
According to the announcement, the program is run in conjunction with the Kankakee County Sheriff's Office. Donations of any size can be dropped off at the Village Administration Building or the Bourbonnais Police Department, located at 600 and 700 Main St. NW, from Monday through Friday, between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. The deadline for donations is Friday, December 13.
This marks the 33rd annual Kankakee Shop with a Cop event, which provides underprivileged children from the county with a holiday shopping experience. In 2021, the program collected over $5,000 and delivered gifts to 80 children aged 6 to 12. Their families also received holiday baskets. Contributions came from village employees, residents, businesses, and organizations.
