Lula Economos, aged 101, of Bourbonnais, passed away at Riverside Miller Healthcare in Kankakee. Born on August 11, 1923, in Kankakee, she was the daughter of Sam and Christina Nickols. Lula was married to Chris Economos until his death in 1988. A homemaker and retired from the family Convenient Store business, she enjoyed crossword puzzles, card games, and cooking. Lula was a member of the Friends of the Poor and Philoptochos Society and was affiliated with the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in Homer Glen. Survived by one son, James Economos, two daughters, Penny Tzavellas and Kristina Economos (George Collins), a sister Coletta Nickols, and a grandson, Alexander Tzavellas. Lula was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brothers Steven and John Nickols. Visitation will be on June 2, 2025, at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, with the Trisagion service and funeral Mass on June 3, 2025, at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church. Reverend Nick Greanias will lead the service, followed by burial at Mound Grove Cemetery. Memorial gifts can be sent through the Sympathy Store.
