Mitesh Patel of Ascension recognized by Modern Healthcare for innovation in healthcare

Dr. Mitesh Patel of Ascension has been recognized by Modern Healthcare’s 2025 Innovators Awards. Dr. Patel, who serves as Vice President and Chief Clinical Transformation Officer at Ascension, was honored for his contributions to healthcare innovation.

Ascension is transforming healthcare through a consumer-centered approach that personalizes care based on patient needs. Under Dr. Patel’s guidance, Ascension implemented behavioral “nudge” campaigns across its primary care practices, facilitating over 50,000 wellness visits and improving preventive care. A clinical trial demonstrated a 19.6% increase in vaccinations, cancer screenings, and diabetes tests and a 17.9% reduction in no-show appointments. Additionally, Ascension introduced a national innovation program encouraging local teams to develop community-focused solutions, highlighted in their November 2024 Ministry in Action Report.
