Bradley's first pet Halloween costume and Halloween House Decorating contest winners were announced on its Facebook page.
The award ceremony took place at the Village Board meeting on November 11. The town is donating $1,000 from fundraising donations to each of the following animal shelters: Kankakee Animal Control, River Valley Rescue, Gayles Rescue, Sunrise Center, Kankakee County Humane Society, Perfect Paws, and It's a Pitty Rescue.
According to the event organizers, the Wag-O-Ween contest invited residents to register their dogs to participate in the Best Dog Costume Contest. For $10, participants received a sticker card completed by local businesses. Once they collected 25 stickers, participants brought their costumed dogs to the Community Center for photos and contest entry.
The Village extended special thanks to its title sponsors: MG2A, ComEd, and Peddinghaus. They also expressed gratitude towards Terry Ryan for managing entries, Heather Olson for providing dog treats, and Deputy Clerk Kym Nelson along with interns for overall support. Chief Barber was credited with the idea for the costume contest.
